Task One - Forms of television advertising

Realist narrative- is when an advert shows a useful product that we use in everyday life. For example fairy liquid which is used for washing up dishes, which people usually do everyday. Humor could play a big part of it so people can find it funny. For example the oasis rubberduckzilla is exaggerated a lot buy having a gigantic duck. This advert is mainly targeted at children as you can see children would find more funny as the majority would have a rubber duck toy.

  1. Usman, make sure you really carefully explain how each of the forms are used to appeal to the audience. For example, a series advert is an effective form as over time the audience gets to know the characters and follows the storyline and this then helps them to always remember the brand or the product. A realist advert allows them to recognise a situation that they can image themselves doing and therefore feel inclined to buy the products.
