Task 1: Target Audience Research- Focus Group


In our focus group, we started off by showing two adverts that are showing examples what we can possibly produce for our advert on the iPhone 5s. One of the adverts was about the app facetime called Facetime Everyday. After the audience in the focus group has finished watching the first advert example, we then ask them question on if they liked it and why they feel that way. The majority of the audience said that they liked because it was useful to death people so that they could be able usse it for sign language to help them communicate. Also people can be able to use it any time of the day and can use social media which enable them to chat to friends or make new friends.
Our second advert example for our idea to produce an iPhone was that we showed was called Music Everyday which is similar to the first advert we showed to the audience. Audience also liked this advert. One the people in the focus group siad they really like it because it shows you can listen to music to music anywhere and any time you want. They also said that the advert showed that different ages are able to use the phone and its not pointed to a particular age group of people.

Once we finished showing the two advert examples for our advert production, we then asked them questions. The first question is that is that what feature they like the most and why they like it the most. The majority of the audince said that their favourite feature on the iPhone was the apps because they aare very useful to use if you have nothing to do or when your are board, you can jus make use of your time by enjoying yourself by using the apps which have games, music, internet and social media. Our second question that we asked them is if you have an iPhone what do you mostly use it for. Most of the audience suggested they used it for calling people, music, texting, games and taking pictures. We then asked them how long they spent using their iPhone. one of them said they use for most of the day which indicates that the iPhone is a huge impact in their lives. For our last question we asked what woul you like to see in future iPhone adverts and one them said that they would like to see in the advert what the iPhone can do so that customers will know what they are in for.

Finally, we imply on which advert was most preferable to use. The first idea was was mainly showing the practical side of what the iPhone can do and showing the different time events. The second idea is more informative, this means we show and explainwhat the iPhones does. At then end the second idea was voted the best way to produce are advert.  

TASK 4 – Regulation

Regulation in television is important because adverts must give important, useful information to their targeted audiences about their product/service, because if the do not give accurate information it will cause a big problem between the advertisers and viewers/consumers and will cause people not to trust their adverts and products.
The roles and purposes of ASA/OFCOM is known in the United Kingdom as Advertising Standards Authority which is the advertising content regulation. The role that it plays is that it takes charge of outdoor advertising such as displays of billboards. ASA role is to regulate the content of advertising and they have specific rules towards products such as food, alcohol, soft drink, gambling, tobacco, health and beauty products, racism and exaggeration.

The ASA would ask two spercifc questions to advertisers which are:
1- Is your advert inaccurate or misleading to viewers?
2- Is your advert harmful or offensive to viewers?
If so then organisations like the OFCOM will have the power to either ban or outlaw these sorts of disaproved advertisements. How the ASA decides whether an adveert is approtiate is by making sure that advertisers are following the advertising codes, the ASA have the power to get the advert removed and stop it from appearing again.

The ASA interventions has changed tabacco advertising for a affimative reason and to set aside from people buying cigarettes and being encouraged by its adverts. Before the ASA interventions cigarettes and tabacco advertisements were full of ridiculus misleading information. A very well known cigarette advertiment back in the 1980s was the Hamlet cigarette company. The Hamlets cigarette adverts is one of the most controversy adverts in history as it produced  many misleading and delusive information in their adverts such as smoking is health and good for you and will make you better which is certainly not true.The ASA interventions caused many advertisements on cigarettes like Hamlet which was banned for a number years till it got back in screening again.

There has been many controversial adverts in the past years. One of these adverts are the John Lewis company. The John Lewis company is one of Britians most prestigious department stores, however they caused a big outrage with what was meant to be a cute Xmas advert. The commerial showed a little boy hanging a christmas stocking on an outdoor kennel in the wind and snow. But it failed to melt the hearts of 300 people who claim it showed it was acceptable to leave the family pet outside in the cold in cold conditions. The ASA disagreed and felt the ad did not endorse or encourge animal cruelty or neglet.

The second advertisement controversy is the Phons 4U the mobile phone got the wrong tone when they tried to pull of a stangely spookey advert. In 2011, their ad which depitched a ghost like girl attracted more than 600 complaints. The girls, likened to a character from the horror film The Ring, stalked a women in a lonely underground garage before telling her about a deal for her mobile. Viewers felt that the images were inappropriate for mainstream viewing and could cause stress for children.

Another advertisement controversy that will sparkel in to everyones ears is the Go Compare. Arguable the most annoying ads on TV anyway, Go Compare caused controversy when a footballer kicked a ball into their opera singer stomach. One more of their ads showed a women wearing a balaclava shoot the singer with a bazooka. Viewers felt the scene trivialised war and terrorism. Between them ads the fuelled more than 2,000 complaints during 2012. But we will know if the compalints were genuine or just something to moan about of its irritating commercials.

Task Five: Re-draft Final Evaluation  
 
The production that I am adverting is the latest smartphone by apple which is the new iPhone 5s and is an upgrade from the last version of the iPhone which is the iPhone 4. We decided to choose to advertise on this product because it attracts lots of people which will make it easy to sell. And the new iPhone 5s has new and better features such as the new apps, fingerprint identification and has longer battery life. It mainly targets teenagers a business people, teenagers always want the latest and best phones which includes the latest features that will attract this certain age group.
When my advert is completed and is ready to be published on televisions people will then be able to see it. I created a focus group so I can know what the target audience thinks and to share their opinions about my iPhone 5s advertisement and explaining the pros and cons of my advert. This is a form of audience research because I am finding out what audience opinions about my advert by discovering audience preferences and for them to give me honest answers of their point of view. After the audience have finished assessing my advert I will then ask them questions of their thoughts towards my advert such as what you liked or disked about my advert and why you feel that about it. I will be receive feedback either through critics and on ways to improve it or praise my work showing what made the advert look good about it that I can include in the future of my productions.
After I finished presenting my advert to the focus group and getting feedback from the audience giving me critical and good advice about my advert, I found that both sets of feedback was very useful to me because they showed me ways on improving my advertisement production in the near future. The audience really like the way I edited my scenes by showing close ups and ranges of shot cuts and the way I should different scenarios in ways you can use the iPhone 5s in different places and showing the different features you can use. They also liked the music I used in the background because they thought it matched the theme of my advert. However they (audience) did think that the music was too loud because it prevented them from hearing what was being said by the actors in the advert and they also said that my timing of my shot cuts was a bit slow and was not matching up with the pace of the vibrant music in the background. By learning from mistakes i will prevent doing these simple doggy mistakes and by learning from my positives will give me the confidence to do more production work like this.
Overall I thought I did well for my first production advert about the iPhone and as short as a minute long, I couldn't do all the things I would have wanted to do which would have made the advert longer than I should be. The audience enjoyed the advert it as they gave me positive feedback about it. I do feel I did enough to persuade for people to buy the iPhone. However I did show some faulting in the advert which showed a lack of pace quality towards the end of my advert which made the it look amateurish and I will need to improve my work in the future. Additionally the advert may look a bit unreliable because we should have at least included a female to show both genders are able to use it so it important that we interest and attract both genders to show we are reliable and fair to everyone. Having a female character involved in the advert production will reach a wider audience and will show how effective the advert is.
In the long term I thought we filmed a decent advert and very will portrayed of the idea and it will attract the audience on getting one as makes life much easier.
Coming down the good and bad things, I am really happy about my advert and showing my editing techniques. It may not be the best advert for prompting a product as big an apple iPhone but I have showed what I am able to do and on ways I could be able to obtain the positives sides of my skills and ways on improving. I take back my feedback form my focus group very useful because they showed me what they felt and gave me criticism which I also fount very useful in my learning process to become a better editor.

Task Three: Present the results 

In my last I have done a task to do with a focus group to present my iPhone 5s advertisement and to receive some feedback from the group of people from the focus group and i will be analyzing and summarizing the what happened in my screening.
The feedback that i have taken into consideration that i feel i have fount very useful to my understanding of my advertisement from the audience is the criticism because they gave lots of different reasons on ways that i could improve in certain key areas, for example i got one part of feedback was that the music was to loud which obstruct the viewers from hearing what was said in the advert and another critic from audience said the shot cut was too slow and should have been a lot faster which i do take into consideration because if my shot cut was a lot faster it would match up the speed of my amusement pop instrumental music in the background. I also got approval feedback from the focus group about my iPhone 5s advertisement when one of my critics said that they liked my use of editing because i should a view point of someone in the advert taking a picture with the iPhone 5s which shot cut the scene to take a closer view of the image being taken and i also showed that i show different scenarios in different ways and places you can use the iPhone 5s.

Unit 30: Assignment 4- Task One: Sources of information

Task One: Sources of information 

The pre-production documentation was very useful to me and my group prepared and organised with the production of our advertisement. 

Storyboard- It would take up to three hours to organize the storyboard, which will help us plan out our advert so everyone will know what their job is to do to produce our advert. During the time that we are planning we will sketch up some scenes that would contain different scenarios and we would write down different camera shots for each scene so that we will already know what the shoots are going to be about when we start recording. This gives us the advantage of saving time of the day of the pre-production of our advert because everyone will know what to do instead of planning the camera shots when trying to record, which will waste valuable recording time. 

Shooting schedule- we will need to aware of the shooting time schedule for our advert and the best suitable time for everyone to film our advert. We filmed one of our scenes outside, so we had to make we had good suitable weather conditions for us film safely. And we need make that our location is suitable for us to film and not be disturbed by others so that we can concentrate in recording our advert and for us not disturbing others.     

The risk assessment- This is very important for us to know that we are working in a safe environment where can not be hurt or damage our filming equipment. In filming anything can happen, so will need to check up all the possible hazards then can have threat in us working on our advertisement such as: water which can damage the equipment or we can slip and hurt ourselves. The risk assessment prevented us with these types of problems by being aware of surroundings.

The budget- Everyone knows to produce an advert we will need the use of money to pay for things needed to create and advert like our equipment, costumes and props, crews and members. So before we start on doing the film work we would research the equipment that we can be able to afford such as: camera, tripod and props. By doing this it help us keep track on how much money that we are spending and keeping aware that we do not over spend our money by being sensible with the money. 

Contingency plan- This is extremely important to know as an advertiser, you will always need to have a plan B because they could always be possible ways of things stopping you from doing you advert. The could be the location, time or the weather conditions and these type of problems can make it very difficult the produce your advert. And you need to make that your advert is suitable for viewers to watch. So it always good to have more than one option in creating your advert because it is very common that advertisers change their minds in their ideas in what they want their advert to include init because they is always room for improvement so that your advert is good quality. This helps us as a group to share our ideas and develop new ideas. 

Props and costumes- In our advert it has one prop which is the iPhone 5s to show that the advert is for sure about the iPhone 5s. For our costumes our group would  wear different cloths for different scenes and the type of cloths that we would were is smart clothing. This will show that we are in different places and different times of the day for the different scenes that we do.

The call sheet- This help us be organised and to work as a group to get the job done fast.  Everyone in the group would have a task of their own to do in making this advert. For example someone would be charge of the camera, their responsibility would be to record the scene, take care of the camera as we travel to different locations off the school site. And the rest of the group would have other tasks to do like acting, directing and giving assistance to production.

Contact details- In order for us to keep in contact with each other in the group, we will need to give each other accesses  of ways of socializing such as emails or phone numbers. This will help us because it is helpful in knowing where everyone to know what location we can work at or if it an emergency we can contact each other such if a one of us is not feeling well we can let our group members know that we are not coming instead of wasting in trying to know we one of us is. We can also share ideas through socializing.

In my opinion the most important pre-production documentation is contingency plan because i feel that a lot of people struggle to think of another idea than their first idea, they don't think of a plan b, the disadvantages of your first idea might not all come to plan so it is always important to have a back up plan rather than just one idea. We will need more ideas more because they will always be a limited amount of time that we will need. The least important is the risk assessment because these sorts of things rarely happen and i don't remember on someone getting seriously injured by tripping of wire or our equipment getting because we we would obviously be very responsible in taking care of our equipment which we paid a lot of money for (school money). Finally the pre-production that i think should be improved is the storyboard. I don't feel the storyboard is going to be our exact idea of making our idea for the advert and we have rare based any of our outcomes on the exact plan from storyboards.

Unit 30: Assignment 3- Task 2: Production

Task 2: Production 

I will be explaining the process of my filming of the footage the we have produce in our television advertisement. For our advert we had to use the camera to record the scenes which is the job of the camera man. The camera man would tell us as the actors in positions stand and what to do before he starts recording scenes. The camera man would control the shootings of where to record and control the lightning such as not to film in the dark shady and tawny areas so it can be clear when watching back the scenes recorded. We also made sure as a group that we considered the health and safety of everyone involved in film are television advertisement footage. Health and safety check ups will benefit from any of the actors crew members from getting the equipment damaged and prevent anyone from getting hurt. 
We had the use of our equipment to in order for to film are advert such as the camera, tripod, tapes so we can be able to upload it on the mac computer. The tripod is to support the camera to make it it easier for to film. The microphone is so we can be able to make and hear are voices more clearer. The preparations for our advert is that we first planned are advertisement before we started filming and producing in it. This is important because we will be organised when we start filming  and everyone will know what part they will get involved when producing this advert. Here is our first storyboard idea for our advertisement.

After we have finished the filming and production of our television advert it would then be uploaded on the iMac from the camera by using a USB. Once we have uploaded the footage of our advert on to final cut express we can then be able to edit the footage any way we would like. How i first started to edit my footage as that i cut the bits of the video that i did not want to include in my outcome footage into my sub clips and then i would label so that i will be able to identify which i want to keep and which ones i want to get rid of. After i have decide which ones to get rid of, i put all the sub clips that i want together to form the video, so then i will be able to edit and perfect the video. I would using the fade in/out tool which works when by placing two dots on the two lines of the clip and measure out the fade throughout the video. Music i would get from YouTube and transfer it to YouTube converter and download it to final cut express which is an instrumental song with a lot of beats to it and i placed it throughout my video. The fade helps it control the volume of the song. It  will first start with a low volume and the gradually build up then it will drop down when reaches the fade which will make it the volume more effective.
When i have finished all the editing work i will then export in to YouTube by following the format which then allow me to embed and copy and paste to my blogger.

Before i pitch my final idea for our advertisement it important that i must keep aware important legal and ethical issues. For our advertisement it is important that it must not contain any sort of copyright which either be taking ideas from other adverts of taking music. Everything in our advert must be our own ideas and music so it will be different from everyone and it will look unique so we will get more credit for what we have done. It will prevent ant problems with our advert from getting banned. It is also important to give the right information, so that the audience know what they will be buying and know what the iPhone it about. If we lie to the viewers in order for them to buy our product(iPhone) it will be seen as an illegal offence and will cause a lot of problems with them trusting your products in the future. To prevent any of these issues from being possible we need to be trust worthy and do what is most suitable for the consumers trust so it can be possible for us to sell our products and advertise our products on TV for the audience to enjoy.

Before we start our practical production for our advert, we must know what equipment must be needed for us to use in order to create this advertisement and the location of the area we will be filming at for our advert for the iPhone. Also how long it will take to film shoot the advert before it is published.

Technical EQUIPMENT 
To have an acknowledge and successful advert we will need the right equipment for our professional status and quality for our advertisement. Equipment such as a tripod and digital professional film camera can all help the advert look professional and thriving. We will enable our group director to borrow so that we can use it for our advert. To hire equipment like a camera and a tripod it will most certainly be expensive, depending on what camera and tripod you would want to get to achieve a successful advert in space of time around a 5 days and the shoots will take important at looking at so it will be around 30-60 minutes for each shoot. 

Potential Filming Locations  
Our potential filming locations for our iPhone advertisement is that we will have different areas of location to show that the iPhone 5s can be used any where around the world that is useful. For example the park, home, school, hospital and public areas are the the possible areas when the iPhone is most need or most used. We would to film the location of our advert in peaceful area where we wont disturb anyone or so we do not get disturbed ourselves because we will need to concentrate in filming the advert if we want it to look professional.

Actors and Actresses  
Our actors and actresses will be aged 16-18 because it is best to know who the target is based towards at, teenagers is are main target audience even though older people beyond this age can be able to use the iPhone. We would prefer to use teenagers especially in the advert because it brings the youth young affect to everyone when watching. And the genders are not important but it should be equal so male and female can feel the same way to the advert. To know who will fit the best part to play a role in the advert we will need to consider to test the screen for those who wants to take part. It doesn't matter both actors and actresses will be paid the same amount of money depending how good the advert is once it is published.

COSTUMES and Props 
For our iPhone advert we just need normal day-to-day cloths or school uniform to identify the teenage regime. We would have our own bags to carry. We will need to know what location to travel to so we will be able to know if had to change any clothing plans. For our props which is the iPhone 5s itself and it is what our advert is about so that is definitely the most important. And props would cost up to between £200-£500.

Task 7: Sources of Information in Advertising

A client and agencies are in involved in the advertisement industry to help gather information before they start producing a new advertisement campaign. This is done to have enough knowledge in how to establish a new advertising campaign what will the audience lie or dislike. They will know what adverts are appealing to everyone and their television ratings is analysed and recorded  by broadcast audience research board (BARB). By doing this they will be able to keep track on who is watching the adverts, the most higher rated and successful adverts are shown on the popular television programs such as: BBC, itv, Channel 4, E4 and more. This so they can reach a bigger audience because they know which are the popular television programs people watch for their adverts to be successful. They also show the age, social and geodemodgraphics of the audience.
Program profile are the different types of viewers watching different types of programs. The reason why an advertising company would might it useful is because so that they will know which group of people with a specific age range would like to watch. People age between 13-21, they would be attracted to the informal information in advertising rather than formal. This would give advertisers the idea of what type of advert to advertise to appeal to the specific age group. If on a channel where a particular age group would commonly watch, they would have the influence where and advertisers would want to place their commercials e.g. itv, a world cup football match, when goes to advertising they would put football advertising such as Nike and Adidas.
The rate card slot are the advertisers that slot adverts for a particular time they want their views to see. Rate cards slot are useful because they will know what type of audience will watch. E.g. X Factor, they will need permission from itv to slot their adverts.





In this graph you can see more viewers are watching the same type of programs allowing advertisers to more adverts which increases money expansiveness.

Screening:

This is a video of my screening for my iPhone 5s advertisement, which i have huddled a couple of people of different ages to give their own opinions on my a iPhone 5s advert in small focus group. They will judge how good my advert is and give their opinions how i could improve and tell me the good and not good things about my advert and i will need to be able to take in the feedback. After they have completed finishing watching my advert i can then ask them questions of my advert, however i cannot ask the yes and no answers it wont be reliable enough so i will need to ask questions that are fare to get some realistic feedback. From the feedback i received good critical answers. It is important to get their feedback so you can improve in future and learn from mistakes. I feel this is better than a survey because in a focus people give their honest opinions in what they think of your advert, rather than getting questions made up for them to answer because your advert is target at what people want to see.

Storyboard 1:
This is our storyboard of our advert. This when we started to plan out are advert for our idea for the iPhone that we will be producing. This advert will be about the iPhone 5s and how the iPhone will benefit people when they are in difficult situations. In the storyboard you can see it shows different ways of the iPhone being helpful. For example if your are lost or you you are looking for a particular place to go and don't know how you can use Google maps on the iPhone to find where you are or to find where you want to go. 
The form of advertising that we will plan to do is realist narrative is something that most people would appealing and is something that everyone uses everyday. The content of our advert is that is to show the audience what the iPhone 5s is, what it does and any new feature that will be interesting to find out. At the start of the advert we show a person with an iPhone playing music and it shows everyone flowing into a good mood and it will show new apps and features.The target audience will find this interesting because it will be targeted to people who like music and learning new things. And it something easy, quick to learn and makes life easier for all ages. The iPhone is a very popular smartphone so it will appeal to people who has an iPhone. To make this advert appealing to your target audiences it will need to be fun and memorable to watch so people will know.


Storyboard 2:


The second idea for our advert for the iPhone is a more factual informative advertisement style because we will show more of the main features and what makes it better from the previous versions of the iPhone. This form of advertising is also a realist narrative as is the same product from the first idea. This advert will show whats new about the iPhone 5s as the advert goes along. For example the iPhone 5s has a fingerprint identity sensor and has a better faster camera than the one before it. '' All of these features in a smartphone would make it ahead of its time''. This will interest people get the iPhone as it shows and explains what the features and apps to do make life fun and easy to enjoy. Its something new and everyone knows what the iPhone is so it will interest most people.

Both of the advert that we will finally choose to work on will have similar camera shots to show closes up shots of the iPhone and show the detail of its features and apps that come with it.

It is important for advertising agencies study the audience because when making an advertisement they need to understand the the target audience and frame the advert around their characteristics such as its social grade, psychographic and Geodemographics. This makes a more effective advert, as the audience they are targeted towards will feel more attracted to the product/company. Audiences are often segmented into groups, first of which in social grade.

Social grade is where there are single most used variable for research purposes and divides the population into groups based on the occupations of the Chief Incomer Earner (CIE) and it can also be seen as a social-economic scale. Social grade is split into six categories A, B, C1, C2, D and E. The social grade model has been based on occupational code, employment status, qualifications, tenure and  respondents work full time, part time or not working. By knowing what job people do, they can judge on who can buy or not buy the product. 

Psychographic (a common attitude)is another way in which they can divide the audience, which is way of understanding how a person thinks and acts. There are seven different types of psychographic, resigned, struggler, mainstreamer, aspirer, succeeder, explorer and reformer. And these would be used to help design an advert to make the advert most appealing for the specific one. For example my product is an IPhone i would have to advertise on what is appealing to the target audience. 

Geodemographics (where they live) are another way of understanding the audience, however it is based on the location on where the audience, because people from the same area are more likely to be interested in similar characteristics than two people chosen at random. This will allow the advertiser to know where and what type of form to advertise it on. It would be a good idea to advertise a product such as the IPhone on where it matter such as the big towns and cities where people would find it most useful rather than an area like the countryside where it could be hard to get signals. 

Demographics (age and gender) which are mainly the age and sex of the audience. These are very important as they are the crucial factors for deciding what kind of advert to make. For example an advert for young people would often be loud and colourful as it will keep them interested, an advert for the older audience could be more important, complicated to understand and straight to the point. It is also important to consider the interest both genders, for examples if you make an advert it full of girls it wouldn't interest the boys, so it needs to be balanced out and be fair.

All of these characteristics show why it is important to be able to identify certain sections of the audience when carrying out market research and shows how useful they actually are, so you know how exactly how to sell you products in the consumers. Its useful to research using psychographic because advertisers need to know what people interests and opinions are. This will give an idea for he advertisers on what to advertise to their target audiences instead of making up the idea of what they like.

How information is gathered by adverting companies is that most of the popular television companies work with BARB and other television agencies.  The BARB viewing data give broadcasters, advertisers and other interested parties a results on the amount of viewers that are watching each minute. The information is vital in assessing how program, channels and advertising campaigns have helped advertising new products. Tv companies such as the BBC, itv, Channel 4, E4 and 5 are the most popular viewing channels and programs in the country.
Audience measurement panel is the guide for understanding what the audience does. The panel collects information everyday and then given to the TV stations. The research is based on a continuos diary survey measuring the listening behaviour of over 100, 000 adults age (+15) a year.

Task Two - Styles of television advertising 

Advertisement often target a particular audience to either make them buy a certain product or maybe give some advice.

Humour
Humorous adverts target a particular audience that would find the advert funny. By making a advert funny is very possible that they will remember it. An example of a humorous advert is the Evian roller babies international advert. this is a humorous advert because you would never see baby toddlers in roller skates dancing in the middle of the streets. this advert is sending a message showing that if you drink Evian you will feel and look younger.



Parody
The style that is being used for this advert is parody. Parody advertising is about making fun of people or a product. In this Specsavers advert it links up with lynx the body deodorant. It shows a man on a beach spaying body deodorant all around his body and then all of a sudden dozens of a attractive girls in bikinis all come running to search for the attractive scent they crave for. As soon as they reach their destination they all see a man praying the body deodorant all around his body, then as soon as he puts on his goofy red glasses all the attractive beautiful girls lose interest in him and walk away like nothing has happened. How this advert makes people react is that is a funny attractive feeling to it when you watch it. It shows its funny because it shows a bundle of attractive girls dashing for the whiff smell that they yearn for. This will make it memorable because its funny. This style of advertising suits the product because its what men/boys would buy so they can smell good and attract women/girls.



Shock
The style that is being used in theis clip is to shock. This video is seen as a shocking video towards people because it shows a man smoking and gadually the cigarrete the man is smoking turns in to a disturibing image showing how smoking is distroying your body. The reactions people will get is they will be suprised and this advert might change the minds of some people to stop smoking. how this style of advertising makes it memorable is the distrubing image being used, people can thnk of that when they see someone smoke. Why i think this style is appropiate for the product is that less people maybe put off of the advert so they will not by that particular cigarrete.



Surrealism
The style that is being used is surrealism. Surrealism is something that is not realistic that you would never see. In this video on advertising on cadbury. What makes this video surreal is a gorilla playing the drums. The reaction people will get is they would find it a bit strange and funny because we will never see a gorilla play the drums as good as that. I think this style of advertising is appropriate for the product that they are advertising on cadbury is because it is funny and by making it funny it will be memorable.



Intertextuality
The style that is being used is intertextuality. The definition of intertextuality is the interrelationship between texts. In this sky advertisement it combines different types of films such as superman, Harry Potter, kings speech and more. Intertextual is basically changing the original idea of the purpose and adding your own ideas but you do not change the full idea.



Repetition
The style that is being used is repetition. Advertiser know that audience and customers remember slogans and brand names better through repetition. Repetition is used often annoyingly to enforce the brand identity on the audience. In this advertising commercial for we buy any car it purposely repeats itself to get into the audience head so that they can remember which makes the advert memorable because everyone will remember as they keep repeating ''we buy any car'' which they have sought have changed it to like a rap song. This style of advertisement is appropriate for the product/service it is trying to sell because it is very catchy and they bring a calm, happy feeling towards their customers.




Sex appeal
The style of advertisement that is being used is sex appeal. Sex is a well-known phrase in adverting industry 'Sex sells'. Advertisers in the same way as using human emotion, recognise that human sexual attraction and impulse is perhaps stronger than any other emotion. This will make the audience have same type of feeling when watching and the product will have a big effect when watch. Many people will know that Megan Fox is an attractive girl an that male viewers will have the sam sought of attraction. In this Armani advert you can see that the man is eager to take a glance at her when putting on her cloths. This will make women think is they by Armani cloths they will be more attractive.




Famous faces
The of style that is being used to promote this product is using famous people that everyone knows which will help sell their product is people may be fans of them. Celebrity endorsement is a common technique whereby a celebrity is featured in the advertisement. In this pepsi commercial it shows the famous football star David Beckham in a beach having a Pepsi drink. A celebrity will generally appeal to the same target audience as the product. Often the celebrity is associated with the product in question.       Which will make it memorable.

In this task i will be finding five existing products for an existing product that i have chosen that is similar. These adverts must standout amongst each other. The product that i have chosen to anaylse on is the smartphone iPhone 5 and i will be chosen other existing smartphones to compare and show their differences. 

Chosen product 

This advert is about the latest smartphone iPhone 5s it shows people using the iPhone all new iSight camera, so people can take better pictures and videos on their phone. Statistically most people use their smartphones camera rather than using a digital camera.  And it shows people in different genders, ages and races using the the iPhone 5s all new iSight camera which shows that everybody will like it. The form of this advert is a realist narrative advertisement people would use this phone everyday. The advertisement is very colourful with people smiling and it shows a lot of cuts e.g. every three seconds there will be a new shot to keep the advert short, interactive and motivational. The type of music that is being used is a calm instrumental music used in the background to create a fun feeling type of effect to show people enjoy using the iPhone. What makes this distinctive advertisement memorable is the detail in showing clear camera shots.



This advert is about the HTC one which is a realist narrative form of advertising. In this advert it use loud hip pop music and images. This shows that it is targeting teenagers because it shows images of teenage girls as it will have all the features teenagers will be attracted to buy this phone. The HTC has highly upgraded on it previous versions. It has a 4.0 megapixel rear camera and a 2.1 megapixel front camera(1080p for recording and video chat). This allows the HTC to provide high quality in its images and videos. It has a 2 GB of memory 64 GB of storage so that you can be able to store many pictures and videos. In this advert it shows ranges of shot types and camera movements angels from close up shot to long shot, showing different angels of the phone in detail as some people might buy this phone because of its good style of its image as the phone will appeal to many people and it is something new to try. Also show some new features. In the background it has pop teenage feeling beat, which suggests its very fun and enjoyable to use which will attract the younger generation. The music can make the advert memorable because it shows shows pictures of girls enjoying themselves. And the HTC could of been built especially for the use of music as it has built in speakers from top to bottom. So people who like music could find the HTC appealing to them.


This advert is a realist narrative and shows the latest smartphone in 2013, the samsung galaxy S4 is an android smartphone produced by samsung electronics. The samsung galaxy S4 advert shows people at a pool party which a range of using the different unique features on the samsung galaxy S4 such as the infraded sensor is used for the devices Air view features and it shows the good use of the camera when you can see people showing the camera pics and taking picture with the android. It show the different angles you can take on the camera, the most common one is the close up shot which will show in detail. This form of advertisment is an realist narrative which means that it is a product that is used everday. The type of syle this advertisement has is a bit humorous because it does show some people doing silly stuff and people making jokes. The of sound/music being used in the advert is kind of an old fashion calm music in the background to kind of comfort the viewer making want to watch for longer. What make this advert memorable is the new features that is brings which everyone will be excited about using it. How this makes this product appealing is that it is the latest smartphone out at the time it came out, so people will be attracted to the latest products because it bring new appealing features which is what makes it different from the last version such as the big bold super AMOLED touchscreen and gives you a good grip on the phone with the camera which designed for the handset because in the last version the samsung galaxy s3 polycarbonate casing made the handset often very slippery when holding it in the hand and the bulk of the camera lens makes it difficult to hold comfortably when it can sometimes feel too weighted on one side and the samsung galaxy s4 has managed to improve which will make a big difference to people prospectives. The audience that this targets is the young generation and the wealthy class people.                


This advert is a form realist narrative about the smartphone Moto G. Moto G is an android smartphone which manufactured by Motorola mobility. In this advert on the Moto G it shows the different range of colors that you can get. The Moto G runs Android. The Moto G shot types and camera uses ranges of angels to look at. It has 5 megapixel rear camera and 1.3 megapixel front camera and has flash. In the advert it hows a lot of things the young people would like such as a rocket so it could be targeted at kids from 12 and upwards. The 16 GB version packs enough juice to get you through most regular usage and the user gets around 12.8 GB excluding the Android system apps. Display the Moto G has stunning HD display boast of images and display quality even better than the iPhone. Also the 4.5 inch is perfect for most pockets so this might appeal to people. And it shows different ranges of colors which would rarely get on an iPhone or Samsung which could make it memorable and appeal to consumers, so it could target at people who like variety of colors to choose from. It uses calm fun music showing it is appropriate to use for any age reasonable. Its has good sensors.


This advert is about the smartphone Sony Xperia  Z. This advert uses a documentary advertisement style because it uses music an a narrator explain the different features about the phone. There are are camera shots and movement in this advert whist they are filming they are capturing the footage of people using the smartphone. The camera movement in the Sony Xperia smartphone is that it has 13.1 megapixel rear camera, 1080p video recorder and a 2.2 megapixel front camera. It also a waterproof smartphone which what makes the smartphone appealing, because phones such as Samsung and iPhone are not water resistance and that you can connect it to the TV and photos and videos with friends and family. Its sensor that's 30% larger than any other smartphone. ''The results are super crisp and super sharp images'', the narrator uses repetition when he says 'super' which will make people remember. This appeal to everyone because its waterproof which appeal to teenagers as they consume most of smartphone products we use today and adults. This advert is appropriate for all mature ages as it does not show offensive things.

 It is important to conduct research before you start planning  new advertising campaign because you will need to have different types of methods to research.

Audience research is a well ordered and accurate way of finding out about your audience. There are two main things that audience research can do:
estimate audience size
discover audience preferences
Methods of audience research 
The most common method of audience research is the survey: a group of people is selected, they are all asked the same questions, and there answers are counted. But as well as surveys, there are many other methods of audience research including observations, mechanical measurement and qualitative research. This is a good way to target people to buy a product (IPhone).

Market research- is about responding to the consumers needs. and it is important to find out these needs before launching a new product. You would have to gather about the issues relating to marketing products and services. The purpose of any market research project is to achieve an increased understanding of the subject matter. This will help the conduction of  businesses to help identify gaps in the market and business opportunities. The most successful products meets to the consumer needs which makes it better the the rivals.  Markets are always force which suggest that markets are always changing, so businesses must keep aware of market trends evolving customers demands caused new fashions.

Production research- is the type of research that will allow you to identify what resources you will need to launch the end product and whether the advert would be profitable within the current market. Production research will give the idea of what factors, whether controllable or uncontrollable and could affect the production of your advert. Controllable factors would include pricing, promotion and distribution. Uncontrollable factors would include technology, competition, culture changes and economic conditions such as consumer spend rates.
These are method of collecting market research:
Primary research- involves gathering data that has not been collected before. For example surveys using questionnaires or interviewers with groups of people in a focus group. It provides new data for a specific purpose.

Secondary research- involves gathering existing data that has already been produced. For example researching the internet, newspapers and company reports.

Qualitative research- is information collected about opinions, views and primarily exploratory research. It is used to gain an understanding of underlying reasons, opinions and motivations. It provides insights into problems or help to develop ideas for potential qualitative research. This type of research is often less expensive than surveys and is extremely effective in acquiring information.

Quantitative research- is factual information and is used to quantify the problem by way of generating mathematical data or data the can turn into a result of use able statistics. It is used to quantify the behavior, attitudes and opinions and other defined variables and generalize results from a large sample population. Quantitative research data collection methods is more structured than qualitative research because it involves various form of online surveys.

If it was raining with the camera our plan B was that if we cant shoot it outside then we'll go inside and worry about what we need to do and what we can do. If classroom isn't free then we would have a back up room to film or we would just confirm ith the teacher when the classroom is free.




Proposal

Our advertisement consists of certain scenarios a user of the iPhone would find better having the iPhone rather than not having one, this can consist of being lost in the woods and looking at Google maps, playing music or simply making videos… In slow motion. The advertisement is generally aimed towards anyone that would need an iPhone.

Our advertisement will take place in several different locations where we have the permissions to film at. We have the simple props such as the iPhone 5s and the costumes will just be casual.

The advertisement will feature a group of 5, who are students at Robert Clack School. The programme will be produced on a digital format camera and edited using digital technology, The programme budget overall will be £1245.96
